Flee

A prisoner set free does not linger at the gates of captivity. When the chains are broken and the doors swing open, they run—far and fast—away from the place that once enslaved them. In the same way, when God rescues you from the snares of sin, don’t linger at the threshold of your old life. Flee with urgency, putting as much distance as possible between you and that which once held you bound.

The Scriptures are clear in James 4:7: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” But understand this—resistance is not passive; it requires strength, vigilance, and discernment. The enemy is not a fool. He is ancient and cunning, a master strategist who studies your weaknesses with a patience that stretches through generations. He is the old serpent, the father of lies, and he knows how to lure you back into the shadows you once escaped.

You may think you are strong enough, spiritual enough, to stand near the edge without falling. You tell yourself that you’ve conquered those old desires, that you’ve outgrown those sins. But without realizing it, you find yourself gazing back—just for a moment—then speaking words you once swore off, entertaining thoughts you thought long buried. Suddenly, the ground beneath you shifts, and the very thing you believed you had left behind tightens its grip once again.

God warns us in His Word:
Leviticus 10:10 – “And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean.”
• Colossians 2:21 – “Touch not; taste not; handle not.”
• Philippians 2:5 – “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
• 2 Corinthians 6:17 – “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

This is not a suggestion—it’s a command. You are called to live a life set apart. Holiness is not an option for the believer; it is a shield, a fortress that guards your soul against the subtle deceptions of darkness.

Do not be deceived by the illusion of strength. Pride whispers that you are untouchable, but humility recognizes the fragility of the human heart. Be wise. When the scent of sin wafts on the wind, do not pause to analyze it—flee! When the sound of temptation echoes in the distance, do not linger to listen—run! Separate yourself from what corrupts your soul and fix your eyes on the One who calls you to purity.
Remember, it is not enough to resist; you must also pursue holiness. Submit your heart to God daily. Fill your mind with His Word and surround yourself with His presence. Let your life be a living testimony of one who was rescued and never looked back.

Flee from evil. Embrace the freedom God has given you. Run toward righteousness and never return to the shadows.
