IN THE WAIT

EVER seen an expectant mother waiting for the
baby to be born? What of a first time dad?
What happens in the wait? Why should we
wait? And what happens if we do not wait?
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

EVER been in a situation whereby you required a particular answer or action but their is a delay?
Look at the current situation we are facing in the whole world. We are waiting for a vaccine for  Corona virus...

I have waited many times for different things and even now I'm waiting for something.
Human beings have been wired in a way that we are always looking upto something. We are always waiting to wake up in the morning to go to work, waiting for the day to come and do a few things/chores, waiting for evening to come and go home, waiting to get better from certain illnesses, waiting to get a spouse.....
WE ARE ALWAYS WAITING.

In waiting we get to exercise patience. But is that the only thing?
Here is part of my story...
On 14th August 2019 I had an accident in the middle of the night and there in the darkness I had to WAIT for help to come.
Did help come? Yes... but I had to WAIT for some time.

When I was brought to Agakhan hospital Nairobi, I was taken in for surgery. My family and friends had to sit and wait for 8hrs for the surgery to be complete. Was the spinal stabilization done Well? Yes! Was the wait worth the time? Yes and no to some.

Stabilization of the spine was now over and so the big news had to be announced; that I was paraplegic. I guess to many, this wasn't the answer they were expecting after the long wait. I personally didn't expect that.

And so, family and friends together with me begun to pray for complete healing and that I may walk again. I remember one guy praying for me and he said that I must walk before the end of 2019. How I waited for the year to end just to see the miracle....I WAITED!!

Prayers have since changed tune and it's getting to the point they utter "according to God's will." I wish to get better and I pray everyday. I've also joined the group of "according to God's will."
Oh people of little faith!!

But this is my encouragement.
Waiting should not bring us down. We should not tire on waiting. This is where faith comes in; believing in the unseen or the impossible.

Imagine praying to God and He gives you an answer without WAITING.
A God of immediate gratification requires no faith. Imagine asking for wealth and receiving it immediately vs a man/ woman who has toiled hard for years and has received his/her portion. Whom among the two enjoys the wealth most or will use it Well?
Imagine if babies were conceived and born on the very same day? How many mothers or parents would love their babies deeply and genuinely?

The presence of silence never equals the absence of God. And so while you wait, understand that God is with you and pray without ceasing.

Here I am still waiting for God to perform His miracle. The wait isn't easy any bit. I'm still not walking and being assisted to do almost everything.
But the promise to those who wait is what's keeping me going. (Isaiah 40:31)

Death isn't sweet, and in-fact the way Christ died wasn't the best of choices. The Son of God was Spat on, beaten, whipped and nailed on the cross for sin He never even committed. Christ had to stay in the tomb for 3days and then finally He rose again. He had to WAIT!!
But the risen Saviour has become the source of salvation for all mankind and those who look upon Him shall live and never to die again.

The process of waiting upon the Lord patiently is already a blessing on it's own. I'm reminded of the disciples of Jesus whom were told of a Helper to come. I know none of them expected what was to come but their being close to God paid off. The Holy spirit fell upon them with great might and they continued with the works of The Lord.

God is never late in fulfilling His promises, His time is the best. Though we may feel like His answers are taking too long, we shouldn't loose hope.
The stories of Abraham, Job, Hannah, Zechariah, and Elizabeth are part of those who waited upon The Lord and were rewarded.

I have prayed, my family and friends are sincerely praying for me to get better and walk again;
I WILL WAIT!!
And if I shall not get my reward here on earth I shall surely receive it in Heaven.
I'm now getting to understand that this was just but a test on me. A test on patience and faith. I'm not loosing hope any time soon and I'm geared up for the WAIT. It's all about spending time in The Lord.

The prophet Isaiah says, " that those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength."
The spinal cord patients like me shall never require a nurse or any help for they will be strong and their strength shall never go weary... Imagine!!

"That they shall mount up with wings as eagles"
The quadriplegic patients like Peter and Anthony and the many more I do not know of will have the strength in their arms and grasp the eagle wings and soar in the air.

"They shall run and not be weary"
All the paraplegics like me will compete Kipchoge Keino and surely beat the 1:59:42 record set. No human being is surely limited if we hope in The Lord.

"...and they shall walk and not faint."
All the spinal cord patients, the bed ridden, stroke patients, the old and young shall walk and never faint. THESE ARE THOSE WHO WAIT UPON THE LORD!

I'm waiting for His soon return. The journey has been tough but for whatever He has done and allowed, I'm sure He is with me. May we allow The Lord to take control and may we have the hope, patience and Faith that He will answer our prayers. Keep WAITING!!!
