True Freedom-Holiness
Freedom. The word ignites our hearts, stirs our souls, and awakens something deep within us. Yet, the freedom we long for isn’t merely a worldly escape—it is the freedom Christ promises, a liberation so profound it transforms every part of us. But make no mistake: this freedom requires a fight.
Jesus proclaimed, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free... So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:32, 36). This freedom isn’t handed to us without resistance. We battle daily against lies that bind us, sins that ensnare us, and fears that paralyze us. The truth of Christ is our weapon, cutting through the darkness and shattering the chains that seek to hold us captive.
The Apostle Paul’s words in Romans 7:18 ring with the struggle we all know too well: “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.” Do you feel the tension? The war within? The desire for freedom clashing against the pull of sin? But take heart—this fight isn’t yours alone. Christ stands beside you, His Spirit empowering you to overcome.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free,” Paul declares in Galatians 5:1. “Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Standing firm is no passive act; it’s an unyielding resolve to reject the lies of the enemy and cling to the victory Christ has won. The battle for freedom demands courage, perseverance, and unwavering faith in the One who fights for us.
Even in servanthood, freedom reigns. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 7:22, “For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave.” To belong to Christ is the greatest freedom of all. The chains of sin fall away, replaced by the light yoke of His love. In serving Him, we find liberation from the tyranny of self and the crushing weight of guilt.
So how do we fight for this freedom? We fight with truth—declaring God’s promises over our lives. We fight with surrender—laying down our pride and allowing Him to lead. We fight with perseverance—refusing to give in when the battle feels overwhelming. And we fight with hope, knowing that Christ has already secured our victory.
Freedom is not the absence of struggle but the triumph over it. It is the joy of walking in Christ’s truth, the peace of being unshackled from sin, and the strength to live as God created you to be.
True freedom, is living holy.
Holiness, then, is not a restrictive path but a liberating journey. It is God reshaping us into His image, setting us free from the power of sin and calling us to live in His truth. To belong to Christ is freedom. It is the freedom to be who He created us to be—whole, joyful, at peace and for His own glory. The Lord says in 1 Peter 1:16, "Be ye holy; for I am holy."
So rise up, warrior of faith. The battle is fierce, but the victory is sure. Fight for holiness; the freedom Christ has given you—and live boldly in the light of His love.
Fight to stay free!
