Temporary Conviction
A Rebellious Generation That Forgets
This is a stubborn and rebellious generation—one that shuts its ears to truth and hardens its heart against correction. They stumble blindly, unwilling to heed the voice of wisdom, refusing to turn from their wickedness. “For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the Lord” (Isaiah 30:9).
Do you remember COVID-19? A time when death swept across the lands, relentless and unyielding. Graves filled to overflowing, burial grounds stretched to capacity, and the streets bore the haunting silence of lives cut short. The cries of despair rose like smoke to the heavens. Yet today, it is as if it never happened. The memory of suffering fades, leaving no trace on the hardened hearts of men.
Do you recall the wars, the post-election violence, the floods, and the earthquakes? The famines that left children starving, the fires that devoured entire towns, the tornadoes that reduced homes to rubble? In the throes of calamity, humanity humbled itself. Men fell to their knees, pleading with God to take away the scourge, the pain, the destruction. Psalm 107:28 echoes this cry: “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.”
But how fleeting was that humility. Like the morning dew, it vanished with the first light of relief. We recieve what we cry for and in an instant we forget the Giver, turning our backs on Him. The hearts that once sought God turned again to their sinful ways, forgetting the mercies they had received. As Proverbs 26:11 warns, “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.”
Even now, the Lord uses the disasters of this world to shake humanity from its slumber.
How long will God’s voice call out through calamities before humanity listens? How many lives must be lost, and how many tears must fall before men realize the futility of their rebellion? “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
Yet, the question remains: when calamity fades and peace returns, will the world finally remember, or will humanity once again choose the darkness over the light?
It's sad how humanity seem not to care and forgets too soon.
Repent!

Amen 🙏
