Discomfort
Jonah thought he could sail away and hide from God. When he got caught, he was thrown overboard and calmness came in the waters.
When Jonah got tossed overboard, a fish was waiting and swallowed him. What a terrifying situation that was…
In belly of the fish for 3 days and 3 nights.
Nineveh was a 3 days journey but when Jonah was spewed up by the fish, he made it in one day.
Jonah changed! He realized he couldn’t hide from God and had to do God’s will.
He was now determined now to get where God sent him.
In order for Jonah to have a new mindset, God had to give Jonah an experience of suffering. At times it takes something to rock your life or a time of unpleasantness to change.
A time of discomfort altered his entire lifestyle for that duration.
Our country is experiencing discomfort.
The Gen Z’s have taken to the streets with protests over hard times faced by Kenyans.
Young men and women have been abducted, some tortured and many killed but they are still relentless on the government.
Due to the discomfort, change is taking place. The president dissolved cabinet, the inspector of police resigned, certain members of parliament who were proud and arrogant are living in fear due to their properties getting destroyed and attacks by members of public.
And who knows whether heads of parastatals and other government agencies are going to be sacked as well?
It’s a time of unpleasantness and uncertainty…
God has allowed this discomfort to happen so that men and women can realize that the one and only comforter and guide is Jesus Christ and to show the world that God is not mocked.
Galatians 6:7-8
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
If God is not in the heart of the President, our leaders, the young men and women called Gen Z’s and Millenials, this disruption, this discomfort and unpleasantness shall not end. The corruption, oppression, abductions, killings and protests shall continue.
Our hope MUST be in God and we cannot preach water and drink wine.
This should be a time to seek God in truth and in Spirit.
Even if the country gets back to normalcy, something else will come. Having this is mind, we ought to put our trust and hope in God Almighty.
Ecclesiastes 4:1
4 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.
The world is not designed to have comfort. All that, is for the life to come.
Deuteronomy 32:39-43
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
These verses let me know that the final decision of everything is in the hands of the Lord. Pray for our country Kenya…🇰🇪
“…hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” 🙏🏽
