Addiction

I’ve been an addict of so many things God knows. But I’m glad God interfered with my life and pointed me to the straight and narrow. It’s not an easy task and I have demons to fight but I’m glad that where there is life, there is hope.

Addiction is a complex condition characterized by compulsive engagement in a behavior or use of substances, despite harmful consequences. It typically involves a psychological and sometimes physical dependence, where the individual experiences a strong urge or craving and often feels unable to control their actions. This can apply to various behaviors or substances, including drugs, alcohol, gambling, or even certain activities like internet use. Addiction often affects a person's daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Addiction can be ANYTHING that draws your time and attention from God and as a result cause you to fall into sin.

Addiction can be introduced through curiosity, self indulgence and/or teaching.

Don’t overestimate your strength and don’t underestimate the devil. We are all prone to something. Like many do not know that most people are addicted to money. The love for money has gone beyond their love for God.

Addiction can spread too like a contagious disease. Do you hang around thieves, drunkards, drug abusers, homosexuals, party people?

When you linger around sin, there is likelihood that you will get stained.

1 Corinthians 15:33

33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

Whether your past was drinking, smoking, partying, homosexuality, any violation of biblical principle that you have agreed to stop doing, satan will attack your heart so that you become emotionally attached again and your mind will ponder on the past and tell you that you are missing out…

How does our past become the present?

Our pasts become our present when the devil generates the past desires and gives you the same emotions and feelings of that past.

Anybody fighting addiction will suffer difficulty from the devil. The devil will come back more forcible than he did when you weren’t fighting. The devil behaves like a warden and wants you as the prisoner.

Regardless of how free you feel physically, true imprisonment is the bondage of the mind and the bondage of the heart.

Spiritually, addiction can have several detrimental effects:

1. **Loss of Inner Peace**: Addiction often leads to turmoil and distress, which can overshadow one's sense of inner peace and spiritual well-being.

2. **Disconnection from Values**: It can cause a person to act in ways that are inconsistent with their core values or spiritual beliefs, leading to a sense of guilt or spiritual conflict.

3. **Isolation**: Addicts may withdraw from their spiritual communities or support networks, leading to social isolation and a loss of communal support that is often vital for spiritual growth.

4. **Erosion of Purpose**: Addiction can obscure or diminish a person's sense of purpose and meaning, which are often central to spiritual life and fulfillment.

5. **Impaired Self-Reflection**: The compulsive nature of addiction can make it difficult for individuals to engage in self-reflection and personal growth, which are key aspects of many spiritual practices.

Overall, addiction can disrupt one's spiritual journey and undermine the sense of connection, meaning, and inner harmony that many spiritual traditions strive to cultivate.

What sin or sins do you love?

Examine yourself!

Psalm 7:10-12

10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.

“…hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”

Praise God for the Truth of God.🙏🏽
