Turn Away
I've been a "Christian" for almost 40yrs. In my previous church, I wasn't all that committed but at the same time, I had some form of "godliness" in me. I was part of the youth choir, I taught Bible study and I was elected a deacon at one point.
The right word to describe me was a sinner. Being the hypocrite I was, i never loved the truth and gladly accepted those who called me, a saint.
The many who stroked my ego and praised me for serving God in my youth were my best of friends.
Ignorance can be costly.
Pride and overzealousness can blind one to certain obvious truths.
God is no respecter of persons and cannot be fooled.
In all those years as a "Christian" i never heard that the elders, bishops, and deacons share the same qualifications. Very insignificant difference in the use of alcohol.
As I now reflect, having the Scriptures as my plumbline I can openly and confidently confess that I never deserved the title of a deacon.
I wasn't even worth serving in any auxiliary.
I was a sinner who needed to sit, be taught and guided in the ways of the Lord.
This was the typical scenario of the blind leading the blind.
Out of the thousands of members, many preachers, elders, deacons and even the old folk, none ever mentioned or brought to light the appointing of young inexperienced men to the various offices in Scripture.
1 Timothy 3:6 gives warning: "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."
This is an instruction clearly written and I'm left wondering why they had to do otherwise, opposite of Scripture.
The fear of the Lord has disappeared in men.
Church has become a regular meeting joint.
Preachers are proud and love academic titles more than the love of brethren.
Sermons have turned into motivational speeches.
Blessings are measured in riches.
The poor are looked down upon.
Sin is growing worse and worse.
God is preached about in one side; the loving side. They never preach that God will come with vengeance and fierce anger to destroy the sinners in everlasting fire.
The house of prayer has been turned into a singing and dancing den.
The clear distinction between a sinner and saint no longer exists. They walk, talk, dress, eat, drink and worship the same while Scripture says, "come out from among them and be separate."
All the events and descriptions of people recorded in 2 Timothy 3:1-10 have been fulfilled. These are the last days and the coming of the Lord is more closer than it was yesterday.
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so shall the world be caught unaware. Many will plead saying, "Lord I did this and that in your name" and they shall be cast away by the Lord saying, "get away from me, you workers of iniquity."
Guilt, shame, anger, and pain shall fill the earth. We who are alive have a chance to make it right. The time is now because we do not know about the hour of our visitation.
Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 6:2:
"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)"
