Serving Others
Greetings, everyone! Today, I want to talk about something transformative—something that, if embraced, can change our lives from the inside out: the lifestyle of serving. As a person living with a disability, I’m often assisted in doing certain things and I’ve come to appreciate every act of kindness.
When we choose to serve, we’re not simply helping others; we’re embracing a way of life that reflects love, humility, and purpose. Philippians 2:7 talks about Jesus, the perfect example of all things. It says, “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men"
In our society, greatness is often measured by what we achieve, how high we rise, or how much we possess. But Jesus gives us a different blueprint. He says in Matthew 20:26–28, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” Think about that! Jesus, who had every right to be served, instead chose the path of humility, washing feet, healing the broken, and lifting the downtrodden. He modeled that true greatness lies in serving others.
Choosing a life of service means shifting our focus from self to others. When we help those around us, we reflect God’s love, becoming a beacon of His compassion in a world that desperately needs it. In Galatians 5:13, we’re told, “Serve one another humbly in love.” Service isn’t about recognition or reward; it’s an outpouring of love that seeks nothing in return. It’s about embodying the love of Christ, a love so radical that it willingly bends down to lift others up.
This lifestyle isn’t always easy. At times, it calls us to sacrifice our own comfort, convenience, or resources. But remember, every act of service, no matter how small, has the power to create ripple effects that go far beyond what we can see. Jesus assures us in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Each act of kindness, each moment of care, is like serving Christ Himself.
When we commit to serving as a lifestyle, we find ourselves changing from the inside out. We discover joy in humility, fulfillment in generosity, and a sense of purpose that comes from living for something greater than ourselves. Serving is more than an act—it’s an invitation to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
So let’s step into this life of service, letting our actions speak of God’s love. Let’s serve wholeheartedly, knowing that, as 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” Together, let’s build a community of love, grace, and humility—a community where serving is not just a choice, but a way of life.
For all those who genuinely offer a helping hand, Thank you and God bless you.🙏
