Fight for your Salvation

How much do you truly need God? And what are you doing to demonstrate that need in your life?

Are we giving God the glory He deserves?

In our search for God, too many of us have grown complacent, resting in a false sense of security that our desires, struggles, and problems will somehow resolve themselves. We offer a quick prayer before meals, drift off while praying in bed, and attend church once a week, thinking that these small acts of devotion are enough to earn God's favor. But do you really believe that this is sufficient?

For the longest time, I convinced myself that I was doing enough. I’d mumble a quick ten-second prayer in the morning, bless my breakfast and dinner—though lunch often slipped my mind—and assumed God understood. Before any journey, I’d offer a brief one-minute prayer and hit the road, rarely remembering to thank Him once I reached my destination. When desperately in need or I fell ill or trouble shook me, I would remember my Creator and extend my prayers to a minute or so citing verses like, "the Lord said, ask and you will receive."

Saturdays were for church; I’d dress in my best suit, arrive early, and spend most of the day there. Singing hymns and doing Bible study. In the afternoons, I’d relax outside, chatting with friends and family, feeling confident that I was on the right track. My Bible would then be shut and kept, awaiting the next Saturday.

I often told myself I was a busy man. Indeed I was busy- extremely busy with the “useless” things of the world. I thought I knew God but Unfortunately, I was very lost and living in a bubble.

But God, in His own way, has a method of humbling us, reminding us that we’ve only just skimmed the surface. Reminding us that our purpose on earth is to serve Him. He shows us that in all we do, we need Him more than we realize and that we should seek to worship Him in deeper truth and spirit.

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8). Yet, how many of us fast and spend earnest time in prayer, seeking His presence with a whole heart? How many set aside time to dive deeply into His Word? How many are willing to pray for hours, wrestling with God like Jacob did (Genesis 32:24-30), or worship without distraction for even an hour?

The truth is, nothing worth having comes easily. Jesus truly said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7). But the key is diligence. A passive, lukewarm pursuit will never yield the depth of relationship with God that we need. Just as Jacob wrestled through the night with the angel to receive his blessing (Genesis 32:26), and Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights to prepare for His ministry (Matthew 4:2), there must be sacrifice. Even the Israelites had to endure the wilderness before reaching the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 8:2). And let us not forget the ultimate sacrifice: the death of the Son of Man, whose blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26:28).

Yet, we’ve grown too comfortable. We've convinced ourselves that we are fine as we are, lulled into a false sense of security by the enemy. "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Revelation 3:17). We pour our energy into worldly pursuits—careers, education, entertainment—while relegating God to the bottom of our priorities. How then can we expect His blessings, His guidance, or His power in our lives?

How can our faith grow when we barely seek Him? How can we stand against the devil if we do not know the God who gives us strength? How can we hope to understand His will if we do not spend time in His Word?

Thankfully, God does not coerce us to follow Him. He has given us the gift of free will. But for those who seek Him with sincerity and persistence, He promises, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). He is faithful to grant wisdom, increase our faith, and pour out blessings on those who truly seek Him first.

Let us examine our hearts and reprioritize our lives. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). Put God at the forefront, and watch as He transforms everything else.

Jesus said that, "He that endures until the end, the same shall be saved." Nothing in your life should be able to compete with God. Fight for your salvation. .🙏
