Dust
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust – a stark reminder of our fleeting nature. The Word speaks truth in Genesis 3:19: “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” We are all but dust, carried by the winds of life. Some may soar higher than others, but in the end, we all settle on the same ground. Life is but a breath, as James 4:14 says: "For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away."
Cherish the ones you love, for the days are short, and the future unknown. Proverbs 27:1 reminds us, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” Treasure your family, friends, and loved ones. If you are blessed with the gift of parenthood, give it your all, raising your children in the way they should go. If you still have your parents, honor them, that your days may be long in the land.
"A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches" (Proverbs 22:1). I recently had the chance to sit with friends, sharing stories and reflecting on times past. As they spoke kind words about me, my heart was moved, for I never realized the depth of the impact I had made. I had merely been myself. Their words reminded me of the importance of kindness, not for applause, but because it is right.
Life is unpredictable, known only to God (Proverbs 16:9). I never imagined I’d find myself dependent on others, confined to a wheelchair. Yet, in this state, I’ve discovered the true nature of friendship and loyalty. Some have revealed their genuine care, while others have shown their colors. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 7:21). Genuine love and faithfulness come from the heart.
Psalm 24:1 declares, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” Heaven and earth may pass away, but the one who does the will of the Lord will remain. So, love yourself as God has created you. For when He made you, He declared, "It is good" (Genesis 1:31).
Why complain about your circumstances, whether bedridden or on a wheelchair or whichever situation? Are we suggesting that God’s will isn’t perfect? Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
No matter your nationality, wealth, or status, we are all made of the same dust. From dust we came, and to dust we shall return. In that truth, let us live humbly, treat each other with kindness, recognizing our shared frailty and dependence on the One who made us, for He alone is eternal, but we; mere dirt.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. ππ½

Amen
