What It Means To Be Called A Woman
A few days back it was mothers day and guys all over the world were sending and sharing sweet messages about and to their mothers.
For the first time I was also caught up in the day's events and compiled a few photos of the greatest and most lovely women that I adore and cherish.
With the thoughts, and in the mood of mothers day, I couldn't help but think about "The human female species," in a good way of course.
What does it mean to be called a woman? This question kept ringing in my mind.
I'm not speaking of a girl, a wife, a mother, girlfriend or even the so called slay queens... I'm talking of a woman.
In our current society, together with the help of The English dictionary, the six different categories of the human female species that I know of, all stand for different things/roles/purpose/meanings.
A girl is a term that can be used in almost any situation and just refers to a female of any age.
A wife is described as a married woman considered in relation to her spouse.
A mother is a girl that has given birth to a child or a girl that has taken up motherly duties to a child.
A girlfriend is a person's regular female friend or companion with whom they share romantic relations.
The next category of the human female species called slay queens, I had to look up in the internet so as not to get hated on or get the "wrong" meaning.
They are defined as a new breed of women in town commonly on social media. A slay queen is a woman who wants to choke everyone else with how beautiful they feel they are and how they do their "cool stuff," not forgetting their blond opinions.
The contrast in definition when you search the meaning of woman compared to the rest is what amazes me. This title surely holds some weight that comes with it and for sure no serious title comes easy; it must be earned.
A woman is the standard feminine parallel to man with the following characteristics:
- Assertive
- Empathetic
- Passionate
- Powerful
- Loving
- Faithful
- Courageous
The Bible too has it's definition of a woman.
And the rib which The Lord God had taken out of man, made He a woman.
Genesis 2:23
And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.
Bone of my bones is an idiom in the Hebrew language meaning exact counterpart, perfect partner, completer of me, from me.
I can't help but share the characteristics of a woman according to the Bible
1. Trustworthy (Proverbs 31:11)
"Her husband can trust her"
2. Supportive (Proverbs 31:11)
"And she will greatly enrich his life"
3. Energetic (Proverbs 31:17)
"She is energetic and strong, a hard worker"
4. Dignified (Proverbs 31:25)
"She is clothed with strength and dignity"
5. Fearless (Proverbs 31:25)
"And she laughs without fear of the future"
6. Virtuous (Proverbs 31: 28-29)
"Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: there are many virtuous and capable women on the world, but you surpass them all."
It's indeed special to be called a woman.
Women have been blessed with turning houses into homes, turning boys into husbands and fathers and turning raw food into meals. How profound!!
This day, I salute all the women out there. Keep holding your heads high...
