Forbidden Fruit

How comes the forbidden fruit always tastes the sweetest? That which we cannot have or have been given a limit to, the heart yearns dearly. Why must you feel like your freedom is being restricted by being denied certain things?

We have enough to sustain ourselves and yet the human heart still yearns for more riches making corruption a disease that still has no cure in our society.

Young men and women are taught to abstain from sexual immorality but teenagers pride themselves with girlfriends and boyfriends doing all sorts of nasty things all the time. Husbands and wives have been reminded to stay faithful to one another but fornication, lust and desires for others fill their hearts.

We have speed limits yet most of us want to go above and beyond. Traffic lights that non of us respond to.

We have simple rules and regulations of the land and yet men and women with pride join gangs and indulge in all sorts of filth.

All sorts of drugs and alcohol are being abused in society.

We all know that we have to eat right and have a healthy diet but we love fast foods too much. Excess oil, preservatives, sugar and salt fill out meals.

Evil/Sin (The forbidden) has basically been made to look sweeter than being

obedient/loyal/faithful or Holy.

What is it with this forbidden fruit that has caused men and women to loose control, that has caused such great desire and adrenaline rush and yet it has led to lots of ruin in society?

This forbidden fruit has led men and women to their graves, landed some in jail, caused sicknesses and heartache, broken relationships, caused addictions and all sorts of bad things.

Unfortunately, I do not have the answers as to why we still chase after it with the clear knowledge of how things might end.

I seek your indulgence on this matter.

Romans 7:15

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

  1. 1st Kings 3:9
So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
And so we pray for the spirit of discernment.
